Dave has been interested in aviation all of his life. Some of his mother's fondest photographs were taken of Dave while he was assembling model airplanes in the basement of their home.

Dave grew up in Ohio, home of the American hero, Neil Armstrong. Dave graduated from high school in 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War. He was lucky enough to not be called but did participate in ROTC summer camp and took a ride in a T-33 trainer. He was hooked on aviation and has been a pilot since 1983.

Dave has not limited himself to traditional aircraft. While he has a passion flying single engine aircraft, he is just as comfortable playing in the clouds in his ultralight, soaring, or even hang gliding.

Along time member of the EAA Dave is embarking on his new project to build his first experimental aircraft this year. He is a strong supporter of the Natl Air & Space Museum and the EAA Dave volunteers with the EAAand Young Eagles youth aviation program. He is also part of a team planning a new Youth Aviation Education Center in Orlando Florida, dedicated to sparking kids’ interest, imagination, and enthusiasm for aviation.
