    DAVID F. NEFZGER, born 24 January 1945, Oak Park, IL, graduated from the University of Illinois in 1967. Dave flew 323 combat missions in Vietnam as an O-2B pilot with the 9th Special Operations Squadron. He earned a Distinguished Flying Cross on 3 June 1969 by distracting an attacking enemy force and helping to coordinate the successful relief and rescue of a surrounded U.S. Army patrol under heavy fire. His other awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Medal with 3 bronze oak leaf clusters. After Vietnam, Dave was a C-141 aircraft commander flying global airlift and White House support missions. He entered the Air Force Reserve in 1980 and began a civilian career with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Washington, DC. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Colonel in 1998 and from DIA in 2000.
