David Gardner Roberts enlisted in the Army Air Force on May 9, 1942 as a flight training cadet. He was subsequently trained as an electrical mechanic and arrived in England 23 May 1944. He served at the United States Army Air Force Repair Depot near Watton, England and worked on B-24 Liberators. He departed England 13 July 1945 with the rank of corporal and was discharged on 27 November 1945.
