    ?»?David H. Marten is the son of Richard and Catherine Marten. He has a younger sister, Rosanne, and brother, Paul. He is married to Theresa, and at the time of this honor, has a daughter, Amelia Ann.

    David's first of many air shows was at age three months, May/1979, where he saw a replica of the Spirit of St. Louis. His first air show of memory was of the Thunderbirds at age 4 years. By the time he entered first grade, David knew what he wanted to be: an Air Force Test Pilot. By third grade, he was constructing flying model rockets for the 4-H. David won state finals in both California and New Jersey.

    David earned his FAA pilot's license at the end of his Junior Year in High School, where he was the Cadet Leader of the local Civil Air Patrol (CAP). He a Cadet-pilot, flew assorted missions for the CAP.

    David graduated from the US Air Force Academy in May, 1999. After graduating from UTP at Columbus, MS in Aug, 2000, David selected the B-1 Lancer. He quickly rose to Instructor Pilot and Mission Commander. David served three tours of combat duty for Operation Enduring Freedom.

    In Jan/2009, David was selected for Test Pilot School, at Edwards AFB. After a year of hard work and flying multiple aircraft, David received the honor of graduating from the Air Force's Test Pilot School and was promoted to Test Pilot.
