    An Aircraft and Engine Mechanic in the Air Force, David spent three + years at Washington National Airport as a member of the 1254th Air Transport Group, Special Air Missions (SAM). When he arrived at WNA, Harry Truman was President; his DC-6 (C-118) occupied one corner of the SAM Hanger 12. There were 8 Lockheed Constellations with the 1254th, one of which became Eisenhower's Columbine II (USAF 48-610). There also were Constellations in Paris, USAF 48-614, (Eisenhower's Columbine I) and in Tokyo, USAF 48-613, for MacArthur.

    Upon leaving the Air Force in 1954, David attended Purdue University, graduating in 1957. He was employed by Lockheed Missiles & Space Company and retired in 1988 after 30 years service.

    For 8 years, 1966 through 2003, David traveled throughout the U.S., Alaska and Europe as a volunteer oh a restored C-121A Constellation, USAF 48-609, one of the 8 cited above.

    David is a member of the SAM Fox Association, whose members have been associated with the Special Air Missions aircraft and is a member of the 1254th Air Transport Group Alumni, those SAM personnel who served at Washington National Airport.

    A friend of aviation, David is a proud supporter of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
