    Honored by:
    Mr. Frederick B. Wagner III

This award recognizes Dave Hansen for the achievements accomplished and problems overcome to get the GOES-R spacecraft ready for a successful launch. Dave is the GOES thermal lead and is responsible for the build, test, analysis and delivery of all GOES spacecraft thermal products. Dave’s efforts and leadership were key in the programs ability to complete all necessary reviews, thermal analysis and close out activities and launch processing operations to guarantee a successful launch from Kennedy Space Center. Dave tirelessly coordinated all the spacecraft thermal installation requirements with the launch operations AI&T organization, which included; scheduling, test tooling, test setup, test facility preparations, MLI blanket install, customer interface, quality interface and management of personnel. Dave was also a key team member in executing a thruster MLI blanket modification very late in the launch flow. Dave quickly and single handedly developed and executed a plan to modify the thruster blankets. Dave was under extreme schedule pressure but completed the engineering and MLI modifications in record time, thwarting a launch delay. Dave worked many extra hours, weekends and made numerous trips in support of the critical GOES-R launch preparation effort, all culminating in a successful GOES-R launch! Dave is to be commended on a job well done and acknowledged for his personal sacrifice and commitment. It is efforts like these that have ensured the success of the GOES-R program.
