One of the early pioneers of Air Racing. He flew the Keith Rider R-5 with qualifying speed of 224 mph. He appeared in the 1936 national Air Races with this plane which he partially built himself. He placed third. This R-5 “Elemendorf Special” was later called the Jackrabbit is now on display at the EAA Air museum at Oshkosh. This super speed racer was the forerunner of the British Spitfire and the P-51 Mustang.
