    Honored by:
    Mr. Martin Shupp

Delmar Shupp began his career in aviation soon after high school. Joining the U.S. Navy provided a training ground for his future in aviation. He started as a mechanic for Pan American Airways (PAA) soon after his Navy commitment was finished. Starting as a mechanic for PAA, he soon moved to a management position that would take him to several different parts of the Pan American world.

After several years working in the European market from Frankfurt Germany, he went to Asia and Bangkok, Thailand. During the Vietnam War he helped with many R & R (rest and recreation) flights for US troops. All the while he maintained PAA’s high level of maintenance integrity.

PAA offered a move to Guam, and then on to Honolulu were his career with PAA ended.

After a short retirement Delmar went on to work for Hawaiian airlines as a property and facility director for another ten years. As of 2005 he was comfortable retired in Honolulu, after a long and illustrious 48 year career in aviation that took him and his family around the world to numerous cultures and continents. Not too bad for a country boy from Kunkle, Pennsylvania!
