Diane Abela is a helicopter pilot - PPL(H), who has worked to contribute to the aviation community, one that she has loved throughout her childhood.
Diane Abela received four aviation scholarships for her flight training for her rotorcraft private pilot license. The scholarships were: the AOPA Breitling Scholarship, the Ninety-Nines Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund FLY NOW Award, the Women in Aviation (WAI) Initial Rotorcraft Scholarship from the Helicopter Association International and the Ninety-Nines North Jersey Chapter Dodie and David Riach Memorial Scholarship.

Her activities include participation on various fly-out events, fundraisers and mentorship in STEM and aviation. Diane is a GOALS for Girls program Mentor at the USS Intrepid Museum. She is also been a panelist at the annual WAI Girls in Aviation day for the New York Chapter. Diane Abela is also highly involved with committee service for the Helicopter Association International (HAI). For three years, Diane contributed to a Heli-Expo Business Management Committee workshop. She is currently serving on the Membership Committee for HAI. In the past, Diane Abela managed several events for the Ninety-nines, such as Poker Run fundraisers and a compass rose marking.

Diane plans to continue her work in serving the aviation industry, where the benefits are are of limitless altitude. She currently trains with Vantage Aviation and flies the Guimbal Cabri G2 (only one of this aircraft in Florida and 25 in the United States).
