Avid aviator, having flown for over 50 years, commercially for the majority of those. Born and raised in east Tennessee; attended University of Tennessee, but my willingness for further education was lost until I became consumed with the desire to fly commercially. Truly I became and remain an aviation advocate and teacher. Still inspired by the simplicity, yet awe-inspiring complexity of the sky and art of flying. Whether small private plane or huge jumbo jet, it is all good and never loses its place in my soul. Grew up with Piedmont Airlines and grew old with aviation, which is the way it should be--I have truly loved the world of aviation, from dreaming as a boy in Tennessee of being part of it, until today when I still enjoy being in the plane and a part of the process. I hope that generations behind me will experience the same enthusiasm and love of this special world of flight as much as I have--it has been quite a ride.
