Don Lewis joined the Rocket Engine Division of Chrysler Corporation in 1957 and worked on the Saturn rockets with teams in Detroit, Huntsville, and Los Angeles. Although there were never catastrophic mission failures of these rockets he fondly remembers the times when tests in the desert failed and highly motivated engineers banded together to brainstorm and problem-solve.

Only a short time before, fellow Tennessee Tech students laughed at Don's classroom presentation when he seriously addressed the prospect of lunar flights. Yet these same young engineers lived to see Saturn rockets power Americans to a landing on the moon just twelve years later.

Don remains an enthusiastic supporter of flight and NASA missions.
