    Mr. George Shea

Don and Edna Dragoo were Illinois natives and graduates of the University of Illinois; he was a mechanical engineer and she was a teacher. They were married in July 1941. Don joined the Army as a career officer in the Corps of Engineers. He served in World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge.

His career continued after the War throughout the U.S., including a tour in Alaska. He and his wife Edna raised their son, Bob, and daughters May Kay and Dorothy throughout those many years and many household moves.

They finally established themselves in Adelphi, MD, where Edna taught in the Prince George's school system for 20 years.

They both entered general aviation and received their private licenses and CFI ratings. Traveling to every state, they taught at aircraft and pilot association clinics.

Lt. Colonel Don Dragoo passed in May 2006. Edna is deeply involved with volunteer work, having served 33 years in the Meals on Wheels Program. She was recently recognized for 26 years of service as a docent at the National Air and Space Museum. She also volunteers at the College Park Aviation Museum.
