    Donald was a radio operator and gunner in a B-24 Liberator shot down (and later declared dead) after a raid on Yap Island, Pacific Theater of Operations in July 1944. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Admiralty Islands. He was born in 1922 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, the son of Emery and Lula E Tenney Reed. He was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
