Enlisted in U. S. Army Air Corps Cadet Program July, 1942. Graduated 2nd Lt. pilot from Ellington Field in Houston, TX in November, 1943. Subsequently sent for additional navigation training at Selman Field, Louisiana and then to Pensacola Naval Air Station for training to fly the PBY aircraft. After graduation from Pensacola as a Naval Aviator was assigned to Gulfport Mississippi Air Field for a month of orientation and then to Biloxi, Mississippi where he received for Air Sea Rescue Training. Then was assigned to the Eighth Air Force, 5th ERS, 3rd Fighter Wing for Duration.
