    Donald R. Bachelder Lt. Col. USAF [ret.] was born on November 29, 1924 in Renville MN. He entered military service on July 1943 as an aviation student and retired on May 1976 as a Lt. Col. in the USAF. He had a career spanning 33 years of Honorable service in the USAF and his achievements include 9700 hours as a pilot in Command of: PT-19, BT-13, AT-10, B-24, C-45, PBY, B-17, C-47, AT-6, B-2 9, T-33, F806, F-8 6, B-57, C-118, C-135 [A&B] and numerous Cessnas, Mooneys, and Pipers with the Civil Air Patrol.

    His high points include being co-pilot on 1962 WORLD RECORD FLIGHTS in C-135B, records for speed with payload over a closed course @618 MPH with assigned weights, defeating Russian Aviation Records, earning him Air Medals and ultimately the Bronze Star. He also ferried Gen Charles Lindbergh from Prestwick Scotland to McGuire AFB in C-118 flying almost reciprocal path of his historic flight back to the CONUS.
