    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

While I was in training in the 2nd Air Force as a Tail Gunner, my B-24 was run into by another B-24 taking off both halves of the vertical stabilizers right above my head. We went into a spin at 12,000 feet and the pilots used the trim tabs to pull us out of the dive at about 4,000 feet. We all bailed out and the only injury was our navigator who broke his leg when landing in a gully. I was sent over to Guam where I served with the 20th Air Force, 21st Squadron, 501st Bomb Group until the end of World War II.
