Don was an aviation enthusiast who earned his private pilot’s license at an early age. His love of flying influenced his choice to enter the space program as a tool designer in the General Electric Company’s Aerospace Division. He worked on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs as well as numerous satellite programs, earning several awards for his cost-effective engineering and tooling ideas. He passed on his vision and devotion to space to his children and grandchildren.
