    Captain Donnell Griffin was born in Bryan, Texas in 1938. He graduated from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College (TAMC) and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force. On completion of Air Force pilot training with class 62-F at Laredo Air Force Base, Texas he was assigned to the 552nd Airborne Early Warning and Control Wing, McClellan, Air Force Base, California. He flew the RC-121-D Lockheed Constellation.

    In August 1966 he was assigned to Vietnam to fly the C-7 Caribou. During his tour he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and seven Air Medals.

    After separation from the Air Force, Capt. Griffin went to work for Continental Airlines and retired in 1999 after 31 years of service.
