Dr. Douglas Haig Jenkins served in World War II in the US Navy (1940-1945) as a fighter pilot, the Commanding Officer of Fighter Squadron 99 and was a Lieutenant Commander when he was discharged from active duty. He remained in the reserves for a number of years thereafter. He received numerous combat awards and commendations during his time in service to his country.
