    Dr. Charles H. Horne, SR. was born in Decatur, Mississippi on April 2, 1914. He graduated from Texas A&M school of Veterinary Medicine in June of 1941. Dr. Horne developed a fascination with flying in 1942, the same year he was inducted into the United States Army where he served until 1945 attaining the rank of Captain. Throughout his military service he continued to pursue his interest in flying. After separation from the military, Dr. Horne set up a private veterinary practice in Newton, Mississippi, and continued to fly first in his Aeronca Chief and then later in his Cessna 170. His love of flying continued until his death in March 1983.
