    Dr. Kennedy earned his PhD from The Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Mechanics.

    He then joined the faculty of the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences in July 1965. He served on that faculty, retiring in May 1995. He taught courses in Performance, Stability and Control of Aircraft, Aircraft Design, Aircraft Structures, Dynamic Stability of Aircraft, Experimental Wind Tunnel Testing Techniques, and Aircraft Accident Investigation. He has investigated several hundred aircraft accidents of both General Aviation and major Scheduled Air Carrier aircraft.

    He is a private pilot with an instrument rating and has flown the majority of general aviation single-engine aircraft as well as many experimental aircraft. His primary consulting interest still remains Aircraft Design and Aviation Safety.
