Worked on space shuttle tiles in supervisory capacity, using plasma polymerization, waterproofing individual tiles in a vacuum. Worked on clear, abrasion resistant coatings for transparent plastics -- for example, for use in aircraft canopies; hard coatings were developed for acrylic, polycarbonate and other transparent plastics and were prepared by use of silicone plasmas.
Also, has a U.S. Patent #4374717 for improved adhesion of sputtered metal to elastomeric materials.
Supervised work on development of chemical warfare agent-resistant membranes permeable to oxygen.
