Wall of Honor Level: Air and Space Friend
Honored by:
Mr. Ernst Eckert
At the Aeronautical Research Establishment at Braunschweig, Germany, I developed, from 1938 to 1945, methods to predict the heating of the skin of aircraft by friction in the air stream, and of space vehicles returning to earth, an effect called aeronautic heating; and developed film cooling of gas turbine blades. I continued this research after the war at NACA (new NASA), at the University of Minnesota, and as consultant for General Electric Company.
