Helped build the Atlas booster and the Centaur hydrogen / oxygen upper stage. The Atlas launched the first astronaut into orbit, and the Centaur propelled the Surveyor to the moon.
Retired as Chief Scientist of the Engineering Laboratories of the Space Division of Hughes Aircraft Company.
