Dr. Gyekenyesi has been a NASA employee for 40 years, specializing at first in designing turbomachinery for aerospace propulsion and power systems, and rocket engines for durability and life.
Subsequently, he became structures and life prediction technology manager, developing lifing methods for new, advanced materials used in aerospace propulsion systems and spacecraft.
He authored more than 70 technical papers and lectured widely in the U.S., Europe and Asia. His technical contributions accelerated the use of engineered composites and ceramics in aerospace structures and engine components.
