Dr. Alexander was a sophomore at the University of Montana when he joined the Army Air Corp on August 26, 1942. He received flight training in Texas, Kansas and Idaho then was sent to England with the 8th Air Force, 93rd bomber group, flying 25 missions. He flew the last four-engine bomber to bomb Berlin near the end of the war. He, at age 91, is the last surviving member and pilot of his B-24 Liberator.

Dr. Alexander subsequently returned to school, becoming a pathologist practicing in Fort Worth, Texas for many years.

He remains active golfing, fly-fishing in Montana, and traveling.
