    Joseph G. Handelman, DDS, of Annapolis, Maryland is an internationally recognized aviation photographer and historian. His interest in aviation and aviation history began as a child during WWII. His photographs and articles of historic interest have appeared in national and international aviation journals, magazines and books.

    Dr. Handelman's interest in aviation photography began while serving as a Navy dental officer at the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland during the 1960's. Over the years, his hobby has prompted him to travel to aviation-related events, and to seek the historical backgrounds of many of the thousands of aircraft that he has photographed. He is well respected among his aviation photography peers and enjoys relationships with similar enthusiasts throughout the world.

    Dr. Handelman is a frequent contributor to the Journal of the American Aviation Historical Society and serves as a volunteer photo archivist at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. and at the U.S. Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland.

    Dr. Handelman's photographs have won national and international recog-nition and his enthusiasm for aviation history and photography continues as a life-long passion.
