Dr. Rose earned his doctorate degree in solid state science from Pennsylvania State University. In 1998 he was named Director of the new Science Directorate at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. He will oversee science activities – from microgravity to astrophysics research.
From 1985 to 1988, Dr. Rose was Director of the Space Power Institute at Auburn University. From 1961 to 1985, he was Senior Research Scientist for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA.
He has more than 22 patents in the field of energy and energy coversion, and authored more than 150 technical publications. He has served on numerous panels of the National Research Council and NASA.
