My mother, who is partially responsible for me being an engineer and taking an interest in aerospace, was always fascinated with space and its exploration. She would keep abreast of events such as eclipses, comets, rocket launches and lunar landings. Her doctorates were in the fields of biology and medicine, but that in no way kept her from keeping up with what was going on out there.
