Dr. Philip S. Hart is a noted educator, author and filmmaker. His books include: Flying Free: Americas First Black Aviator, Levrer Books, 1992; Up in the Air: The Story of Bessie Coleman, Corolrhoda Books, 1996. Among his films is the documentary Flying in Search of a Dream which initially aired in PBS in 1987. This non-fiction film is now in distribution by PBS Video. Dr. Hart is an expert of Americas early black aviators and a grand-nephew of James Herman Banning.
