Dr. Ramesh K. Gupta has served in various senior positions including as a consultant on JCSAT-9 (April 12th, 2006 launch), JCSAT-10 and -11 programs, as a Vice President at AMCOM Communications, and as a Managing Director at COMSAT Laboratories and later Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications (LMGT).
He has published more than 75 papers in IEEE and AIAA sponsored conferences and journals on satellite, wireless systems and technologies and contributed chapters to two books. He also holds four patents.
Dr. Gupta received B.Sc. (Honors) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Punjab University, India and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada.
He also received an MBA degree from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gupta served as Chairman (1988-89) of the Washington DC/NV chapter of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S). He serves on the IEEE MTT-S TPC and also on Technical Subcommittee on Broadband Wireless Communications. He was awarded Alberta government Centennial Fellowship (1976-1979) for graduate research in telecommunications.
In 1992, he received the Best Paper Award at the 9th International Digital Satellites Communications Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also received the COMSAT Laboratories Research Award in 1994. Dr. Gupta has served as an adjunct professor of strategic management and technology planning at the University of Maryland.
