    Dr Griner was a fellow high school science fair entrant with then future astronaut Joe Allen.

    Dr Griner worked with:
    - Rocket Lab at Purdue University during engineering studies
    - The unmanned space program at Jet Propulsion Labs
    - Temperature control of spacecraft in a space simulator chamber
    - Lunar roving vehicle tests ona simulated lunar surface
    - Telemetry recording and analysis equipment tests
    - Modal vibration tests of spacecraft integrity before and after shaker tests and exposure to simulated high decibel launch sound
    - Design of solar panels
    - Design of C-5A engine pods.

    He owns a 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
