Dr. A. Woodruff Miller was one of the early users of satellite data for hydrologic engineering remote sensing research. He used HCMM, Landsat, SPOT, and AVHRR data in studies on evaporation, water quality, snowmelt, crop-typing, and flooding. He particularly emphasized the application of thermal infrared satellite data to hydrologic and water resources investigations.
