Ted Protheroe (born 1928) has over 55 years of experience in aviation. His career began with Trans Canada Airlines as a maintenance engineer after which he joined the fledgling helicopter industry as a pilot engineer.
His love of flying, skill, and natural resourcefulness equipped him for recurrent adventures throughout the arctic in the early years of helicopter exploration. Ted’s ingenuity could also be counted on in any situation.
Later in his career, he flew a desk: contracting helicopters, brokering aircraft, and recruiting personnel for Mission Aviation Fellowship (Canada). Numerous young pilots have been guided and encouraged in their aviation careers through his sage support and advice.
Ted retired in 1995; since then, many have continued to benefit from his knowledge and experience as he enthusiastically contributes his time, energy and skill to several not-for-profit aviation related organizations.
