    E. Curtis "Curt" Hughes was born January 24, 1940 in Raleigh, NC, and attended Needham Broughton High School. Enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1959 and then attended the University of Oklahoma (BS E/E). Commissioned in 1964 and went to USAF Pilot training - Williams AFB, AZ class 66D.

    Assigned as a T-37 Instructor - Moody AFB 3553rd pilot training squadron, 1966-1968, then as a T-37 Stan Eval / Check Pilot and Instructor Pilot at Moody AFB from 1968-1969. Follow on assignments with the 187th Fighter Wing (ALANG) - RF-84, RF-4C, 1970-1972 and 159th Fighter Group (LAANG) F-100D, 1972-1980. Retired as a Delta Air Lines B-767 Captain (1969-1998) In his words---

    "No Combat, but fortunate to fly dissimilar air combat training against Agressor T-38, F-5 and Fighter Lead-In F-15 plus Marine Reserve F-4 and USAF F-4, F-15; out classed, but the ol' Hun surprised several of them. Great plane!"
