    As a flight leader (Captain) flying a Korean Air Force F-51 destroyed Seunghori Railroad Bridge with 6 sorties on January 15, 1952 Korean War. Previously, despite numerous sorties, United Nations air force failed to destroy this bridge, a central enemy supply route located in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. The feat was highly praised by Lt. Gen. Frank F. Everest, Commander, United States 5th Air Force. Yoon was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) from Lt. Gen. Glenn O. Barcus, Commander, United States 5th Air Force on October 1, 1952 (Major). The Korean Air Force F-51 had a joint operation with United States Air Force (USAF), United States Navy (USN) and Korean Army to defend Hill 351 on March 26, 1952.

    As an Airborne Commander of 16 F-51 Mustang fighter-bombers of the Republic of Korea 10th Fighter Wing, joint operation with T-6 airborne controller (Mosquito) of the USAF 6147th Tactical Control Group and USAF 6150th Tactical Air Control Party, under flak suppression by the U.S. Navy and Korean Army, was one of the most remarkable missions during the Korean War. This close air support mission enabled the Republic of Korea 15th Army Division to keep the Hill, located on the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) east coast of the Korean Peninsula, into the hands of Free Republic of Korea. Total combat missions: 107 sorties in F-51 during the Korean War.
