    Inspired by G-8 and his Battle Aces, he first flew in a Piper J-5 at the age of 14 and was a licensed pilot at age 16.
    After West Point and Ohio State University, he achieved his USAF Wings in 1952.
    Flying fighters for most of his career, he spanned the T-6 Texan through the F-4 Phantom. The F-86 Sabre was his first fighter assignment during the Korean War. The last fighter he flew was the F-4 during Vietnam.
    First, last and always: he was a Fighter Pilot.
