While at Lockheed Aircraft, from 1939 to 1976, Mr. martin was known for his design and leadership roles on such CIA aircraft as the U-2, A-12, SR-71 “Blackbird”, the prototype stealth fighter, F117A. He held engineering positions at Lockheed such as Chief of Advanced Design, Director of Military Aircraft Engineering and Overall Director of Science and Engineering.
