    Lt. Ed Holzer flew in World War II as an Army Air Corp Pilot. Ed was based in Italy with the 12th Air Force flying C-47s. In the fall of 1944, Lt Holzer was flying a mission over North East France when his aircraft was hit by hostile ground fire. The C-47 crash landed in a field and the crew was immediately captured by German forces. Lt. Holzer suffered bullet wounds in his legs and slight wounds in his head. He was treated in a prison hospital and remained a POW for eight months until liberated by friendly forces in 1945.
