    WWII joined Army Air Corps December 11, 1941. Graduated Roswell New Mexico, September 19, 1942. Trained as a Photo Recon Pilot in P-38, F4 and F5. Assigned to 21st Photo Recon pilot as Flight Commander. Sent to China Theater – 14th USAF March, 1943. Flew long range photo recon missions over Burma, Philippine Islands, North China and central mainland China. Operations officer of 21st Photo Recon Sqdn. Promoted to Major at age 22. Completed 67 combat missions. Received 2 DFC’s, 2 Air Medals, and Purple Heart. Returned to USA Spring, 1945. Ordered back to active duty in Korean War. Flew B-50’s in combat.
