    As a B-17 aircraft commander, flew 25 missions over Europe as a member of the 379th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, England. Last mission over Berlin., Nov. 1943 to March, 1944.

    Recruited by Eastern Air Lines as a pilot from the military in April 1945. Began as a co-pilot on Eastern's DC-3s based in Miami. Promoted to Captain after 9 years as co-pilot.

    Received FAA Airline Transport Pilot ratings on most of the aircraft operated by Eastern between 1945 and 1979 including DC-3, M-404, CV-440, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, L-749, L-1049, DC-8, B-727, B-720, and L-1011.

    Received the Air Line Pilots Association Annual Air safety Award in 1960 "For His Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement of Aviation in Training Programs and Other Air Safety and Regulations for Air Line Pilots."

    Participated in many airline aircraft accident investigations as a representative of the Air Line Pilots Assn.
