    Mr. Branan W. Cooper

Dr. David Paramore (Pastor of Bethel F.W.B Church) wrote an article about Colonel Cooper's military experiences shortly before he died:
"After the Armed Forces moved through Aachen, Germany, he was advised that a German jet aircraft had made an emergency landing nearby. At that time America did not have a jet aircraft and was very anxious to secure anything relating thereto. Colonel Cooper gathered sufficient British troops and rushed to the grounded aircraft. It was the German Arado 234, twin engine jet, which he realized wiudk be of great value to this Country. The Germans were frantically trying to bomb the aircraft to prevent recovery by the Americans, but since it was then in Allied territory, their bombers were being shot down on practically every bombing pass over the grounded jet. As dusk approached, Colonel Cooper moved his men into position and dismantled the two jet engines from the aircraft and moved back to secure areas. He then shipped the two jet engines to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. for evaluation. Those were the first jet engines this Country had from which the American jet aircraft was developed following World War II."

Recently U.S. Senator Jesse Helms summarized Colonel Cooper's accomplishments:
"Colonel Cooper was an outstanding officer, and obviously his contributions to the war effort helped to restore world peace for us all."
