    Honored by:

Born Aug. 30, 1924 in St. Louis, MO. Left high school in senior year to enlist in Army Air Corps on Nov. 3, 1942. Served with 460th BG, 760th Squadron in Italy in 1944-1945. Flight Engineer and Upper Turret Gunner on B-24(H) Liberator with 15th Army Air Force.
While on our first completed bomb mission over Munich, Germany, we were hit with direct flak and received over 200 flak holes that destroyed left elevator and part of stabilizer and damaged the rudder. The tail gunner was killed by flak over the target.
I repaired the elevator cables by splicing cables with arming wire from the bomb bay. We were able to make it back to the air base. I received the DFC for this.
    Completed 43 missions Apr. 20, 1945.
I also received Air Medal with three OLC’s, Presidential Unit Citation and six Bronze Battle Stars, Certificate of Valor from Major Gen. Nathan F. Twining.
