Enlisted in Air Force Cadets, February 1942. Graduated Class 43-J. Entered European theater January 1944. Flew 70 missions in the 367 Fighter Grp in P-38 aircraft. We were 9th Air Force and did the straffing and dive bombing across Europe. Medals, DFC Air Medal Eleven times, five battle stars inc. D-Day, three presidential citations.
Nine years active duty, flew in the reserves and retired as a Lt. Col. Shot down 3 1/2 enemy aircraft, bombed and destroyed trucks, railroad engines, tanks, troops, ammunition dumps and support General Patton and his Third Army.
