Emanuel (Manny) Kavros graduated from Roosevelt School of Aviation in 1942. Shortly thereafter, in December of 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy where he began his career in Aviation Maintenance. He was discharged in April of 1946. Later that year Manny began working for Lockheed Aircraft. From 1948 thru September of 1959 he worked in aircraft maintenance with Colonial Airlines and Seaboard & Western Airlines. Finally, in September of 1959 he found a home with Campbell Soup Company. He was the first mechanic hired by the Company for their newly established Flight Department. Manny began with DC-3 and progressed through Grumman I & II, Saberliner, Lockheed Jetstars, Falcons and eventually, finished his career on the Gulfstream III. He began his career with Campbell's as a mechanic and worked his way up to Maintenance Supervisor and finally, Manager of Aircraft Maintenance. Manny retired in February of 1987, after a 28 year career with Campbell's. I started as an inexperienced co-pilot. He took me under his wing and helped me succeed in many ways. I have never come across anyone who was a talented as Manny was in the field of aviation maintenance. He was an integral part of what the Campbell Soup Flight Department is today.
