    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Andrew Gorun

Emil Polowniak was an aeronautical engineer whose love of flight bridged his own personal flying ability to being the lead engineer on the F-15 while working at McDonnel Douglas. He transferred his passion for flying to everyone in his family, and helped us explore the world thru flight. His passion was to be a military pilot, but because of loss of hearing as a young man he was not able to pursue that goal. He decided to do the next best thing, which was to build air planes that other people could fly safely. His joy at air shows was fun to watch, and to listen to when he described the different air planes, and what they could do. You could see him in the cockpit flying as he was telling us about how the plane was going into a sharp G- turn, an what angle it would come out at. Emil has been gone for 13 years, but his love of flying has remained with all of us, and we are much better off to have been part of the life of flight with him.
