    Emmet holds four technical and business degrees from Fresno State, Stanford and San Diego State and four California Professional licenses in Mechanical, Electrical , and Civil Engineering and Building Contracting. In more than a 40 year engineering and management career from the 1950s through the 1990s, he designed control towers and air terminals and helped research, develop and design the Atlas and Centaur rockets while an Aerodynamicist for Convair, Convair Astronautics and General Dynamics. He helped launch with atlas and centaur, sometimes combined with Agenas and Titans, the orbital Mercurys, two dozen lunar exploration missions through the Surveyor Landers, and two dozen other solar system exploration missions including Helios 1 and 2 to the sun, Pioneers 10 and 11, and Voyagers 1 and 2 which have now escaped from the solar system. He participated in launching a half-dozen astronomical observatories including eh OAOs and SOHO.
    He additionally helped with the launchers for many weapon systems including the first GPS Constellation, KH-11s and Milstars, and supervised some aerothermal tasks for F-106, F-111 and F-16 fighters and on the Tomahawk Cruise Missile.
