Colonel Isbell is a holder of two Distinguished Flying Cross awards received for heroism while commanding an Army Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam in 1972. Isbell served three tours of duty in Vietnam during the 1964-1972 period. He retired from the Army in 1990 after 31 years of active service.
