ERNEST M. YOUNG (Nl YONOVITZ) CAPT, 432nd Squadron. Born on October 26, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio. He trained as a bombardier at Albuquerque, NM. In 1944 he joined the 432nd and served as squadron bombardier in Sardinia, Corsica and France. He flew 66 missions, 46 of them as lead group bombardier with the 17th Bomb Group. He received the Presidential Unit Citation, the Croix de Guerrre with palm and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 11 Air Medals and 5 Campaign medals.
After returning to the States, he earned a degree in business administration from Ohio State University. As a New York and Connecticut Certified Public Accountant, he served as senior auditor for Price Waterhouse & Co. (PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP) and vice president-controller of a major regional trucking company. For the past 45 years, he conducted his own public accounting practice as Senior Partner in the firm of Marinan & Young. He is the founder and director of several large philanthropic and arts organizations.
He is now married to Christine, after surviving 51 years with Jean, the mother of two and grandmother to three boys. Ernest is now great-grandfather to Justin.
