Participated in Strikes against Japanese held Okinawa and surrounding Ryukyu Islands from March to June 1945. Participated in a bombing strike against an armada of Japanese war ships including the battleship Yamato, cruiser Yahagi and ten destroyers. Bombing Squadron Nine attacked and subsequently sunk the cruiser Yahagi losing one crew.
