    Aviation Radioman, Bombing Squadron Nine, Curtiss SB2C-4E Helldiver, USS Yorktown CV-10, World War II. Participated in Strikes against Japanese held Okinawa and surrounding Ryukyu Islands from March to June 1945. Participated in a bombing strike against an armada of Japanese war ships including the battleship Yamato, cruiser Yahagi and ten destroyers. Bombing Squadron Nine attacked and subsequently sunk the cruiser Yahagi losing one crew.
    Awards: Distinguished Flying Cross (2), Air Medal (3), Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign, Presidential Unit Citation, American Theatre, Victory Medal.
    Entered Navy July, 1943, Discharged October 16,1945. Hometown, Leavenworth, Kansas. Civilian occupation, United States Postal Letter Carrier, 25 years in Orange County, California. Retired 1984. Resident of Naples, Florida since 1985. Amen.
